Faria Tachometer in Chesapeake SS White Style (4000RPM / Alternator / Generator) The Faria Chesapeake Stainless Steel White style tachometer gauge features a stainless steel bezel, white dial, black pointer and black & blue graphics displaying revolutions per minute, with perimeter back lighting and a domed glass lens. Alternator or generator sensed tacho's are used with diesel engines. The senders record revolutions from the filed coil of the alternator or uses a generator sender unit and relays the information to the gauge. The alternator sensed tachometer was invented by Thomas G Faria himself! This tachometer measures up to 4,000 rpm.
